Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team ended their match against the Quakers of Guilford College in a 2-2 double overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA. The Marlins move to 0-1-1 while the Quakers are 0-0-1.
GAME INFORMATION
The teams were pretty evenly matched at the beginning of the contest as they settled in and learned their opponents style. The Quakers found the first score of the game in the sixth minute of action on an unassisted shot by Logan Haustein to give Guilford the lead. Virginia Wesleyan took six shots with five coming on goal before finding the equalizing goal in the 41st minute on a goal by
Matthew Goldberg off the assists from
Noah McBride and
Evan Kastetter sending the two teams into the break knotted up at one all.
The Marlins took the lead in the 49th minute as
Alexander Moody got a foot on an
Evan Kastetter free kick into the box putting VWU up 2-1 over the Quakers. Guilford responded two minutes later as Kenny Nzekwe scored an unassisted goal to knot the game at two all with 38 minutes remaining in regulation. Neither team found the game-winning goal in the remaining minutes and the teams played extra time.
VWU started off the first overtime period with a pair of shots but were denied while
Griffin Potter denied a shot from the Quakers too. Both teams got one more shot off in the first overtime period but neither found the back of the net sending the teams to a second overtime.
The Marlins got four shots off in the first two minutes all of which were unsuccessful. Guilford took possession over the next two minutes during which the Quakers put three shots on frame, two saved and one high. VWU got off one more shot before the game ended in a draw with the score sitting at two-all.

The Marlins were led by
Noah McBride and Alex Moody with one goal each.
Scott Harrelson got off the most shots for VWU taking ssix on the evening while
Evan Kastetter added five.
Griffin Potter (0-0-1)played all 110 minutes between the pipes giving up two goals while making 11 saves.
GUILFORD LEADERS
The Quakers were led by Kenny Nzekwe with ten shots in the game, five of which came on goal, including one score. Logan Haustein scored the other Quaker goal on two shots. Zach Van Kampen played all 110 minutes in net giving up a pair of goals while making nine saves.
