MEET INFORMATION
The meet was the third for the Marlins of the 2021 season. The competition was a healthy mix of Division I, II, and III competitors.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
The meet started with the 60M events of the dash and hurdles races. The Marlin racers came in shy of the finals round in both the men's and women's 60M Dash.
Shirell Washington ran a qualifying time of 9.57 in the women's 60M hurdles finishing eighth in the prelims and in the final heat later in the day she posted a time of 9.33 to claim a fifth place finish.
Both the men and women did well in the triple jump event. Geni Roberts posted a mark of 14.03M which is just .40M shy of his current program record set last season at the ODAC Championships. Roberts' mark was good for third place though he was .01M off from tying for second place. On the women's side Jaylyn Lane claimed third with her jump of 11.06M while Washington came in fourth with a mark of 10.86M.
VWU saw their weight throwers show well with CJ Govan leading the way with his throw of 12.44M. Govan's mark placed him fifth while three other Marlins followed filling six through eighth. Andrew Taylor took sixth (9.32M), Jordan Gilliam seventh (8.47M), and Keive Fyffe eighth (8.18M).
