Box Score ASHLAND, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team fell to the No. 3 Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College 65-53 on Wednesday evening at Crenshaw Gym in Ashland, VA.

INSIDE THE SCORE
The Marlins opened the game scoring the first five points courtesy of a Tim Fisher jumper and an Eric Rowland three. pointer. R-MC pulled with in a point, 5-4, but VWU scored another five points to go up 9-4. The Yellow Jackets cut the lead to two points, 9-7, with 12 minutes remaining in the opening half. Virginia Wesleyan went on a 7-0 run that included a Corey Pelham jumper, a pair of free throws by Kelvin Nicholson, and another three by Rowland, to lead by nine, 16-7, with just over nine minutes to play on the clock. The Marlins held on to a seven point lead as the halftime buzzer sounded with VWU leading 26-19 at the break. 

Macon did not take long to come back in the second half and claim their first lead, 29-28, of the evening following a layup with 16:34 on the clock. A pair of Fisher free throws gave VWU a slim lead, 30-29, but R-MC score four points to go up 33-30 (15:06). A Pelham three pointer knotted the score at 33 all and the Marlins equalized the game twice more at 35 and 37 all before taking a small 39-37 lead with 12:19 to play. Buzz Anthony hit a three pointer for the Yellow Jackets that gave them a 40-39 lead (11:56) and from there they never looked back. Randolph-Macon opened a ten point lead, 51-41, with 7:49 remaining and despite their best efforts, Virginia Wesleyan could not catch up as they fell 65-53. 

MARLIN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by Corey Pelham with 15 points while Eric Rowland and Tim Fisher each tallied nine apiece. Fisher, Pelham, and Jordan Crump all collected five rebounds each in the game. 

YELLOW JACKET LEADERS
Randolph-Macon was led by Buzz Anthony with 23 points, while Miles Mallory added a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. David Funderburg added 11 points of his own. 

UP NEXT
The Marlins continue their road trip with a stop in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, December 4, as they take on the Quakers of Guilford College. Tip-off between GC and VWU is set for 2 PM.
