Box Score FERRUM, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team posted its seventh clean sheet with a 2-0 shutout over the Panthers of Ferrum College on Sunday evening, October 10, at Penn-Roediger Field in Ferrum, VA.

FIRST HALF

• The Marlins found the back of the goal first as a Ferrum foul inside goal box granted VWU a penalty kick. An Alex Moody shot into the lower left corner gave Virginia Wesleyan a 1-0 lead just eight minutes into the game. 
• Neither team found another goal the remainder of the first half despite several opportunities on both sides. 

SECOND HALF

• After coming out of the halftime break, the teams continued to battle it out on the pitch. Ferrum was looking to equalize while the Marlins wanted to add one in for security. 
• VWU was rewarded in the 73rd minute when Michael Nocera skillfully played a passed from Nate Mitchell into the back of the net to give the Marlins a 2-0 advantage with 17 minutes remaining in action. 
• VWU managed to hold the Panthers at bay the remainder of the match en route to posting their seventh shutout of the season. 

KEY STATS

• Alex Moody led the team with five shots in the match, three coming on goal, and was rewarded with a goal off a penalty kick situation. 
• Michael Nocera's only shot on goal of the match came in the form of the Marlins second goal. 
• Griffin Potter played all 90 minutes in the net picking up the win (W: 8-1-3, 2-0-2) as well as five saves against the Panthers.
