KOBLENZ, Germany - Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball alumni DJ Woodmore has signed a new contract with an overseas team the EPG Baskets Koblenz of Koblenz, Germany.
Woodmore graduated from Virginia Wesleyan in 2014 as one of the top-three scorers in program history with 1,957 career points. In addition to being a top scorer, Woodmore collected 687 rebounds, 251 assists, 49 blocks, and 146 steals. He was a four-time ODAC All-Conference honoree, was named ODAC Player of the Year twice, and was the ODAC Rookie of the Year his freshman season. Woodmore earned All-American status from the National Association of Basketball Coaches twice, both first-team honors, and was a D3Hoops.com second-team honoree.
Following his graduation from VWU, Woodmore signed with the Bis Baskets Speyer, a member of Germany's Pro B League, and played for the team until 2019. On July 12, 2020, it was announced that Woodmore signed with the EPG Baskets Koblenz to continue his overseas professional career.
Woodmore commented, "I am really excited for the chance to continue my career in Koblenz. This is an organization that has put some pieces in place to be successful for a long time. They've established a winning culture there and I believe we will have a chance to compete for a championship in only the teams first year in the new league."
When asked to share about DJ's accomplishments, Head Coach Dave Macedo said this of his former player, "DJ brings out everyone's best with his competitive nature and excels at being a great teammate. He is as complete a player as I have coached and you just have to respect the way he plays the game and the professionalism he brings to a team and organization. DJ is a winner and someone who you pick first to be on your team. He is that difference-maker on and off the court. Really just continue to be impressed with the high standards and expectations he sets for himself and his never-ending pursuit of excellence. Put simply, Koblenz just got better and we are all very proud of him!"
