Volleyball Takes First Loss of 2019

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team took its first loss of the season Friday evening as the team fell to Johns Hopkins University, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22), in the opening day of the Mary Washington Tournament. With the loss the Marlins move to 9-1 on the season while Hopkins remains unbeaten at 5-0.

Most of the Marlin offense came by way of Lauren Topper who finished the night with seven kills. Michaela Proffitt also performed well, recording four kills and hitting at a .571 attack percentage. Assisting the offense was Meghan Wood, whose 16 helpers topped the squad. 

Volleyball will be back in action at 3 p.m. on Saturday as the team squares off against Washington and Lee before taking on host Mary Washington in an afternoon doubleheader.
