Marlins Route Randolph 83-51 on Senior Day

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College men's basketball team dominated from start to finish in an 83-51 Senior Day victory over Randolph College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday afternoon.

The Marlins recognized Tim Jones, Justin Watson, Khory Moore, DeLante' Victory, Andre Banks, Aaron Sturdifen, and Kaelin Poe in a pregame ceremony.

Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to an early 17-8 lead and road a hot-shooting 42.5% first half with a 10-21 (47.6%) mark from 3-point range.

Watson and Banks had a big first half for the Marlins, scoring nine points in the half while Moore added seven points and five rebounds.

The Marlins rode that momentum into the second half with a layup from Sturdifen, forcing back-to-back turnovers by the WildCats to go up 46-20. Victory followed with a trifecta the next trip up the floor to go up 49-20. The senior connected from distance again the next trip up the floor to put the Marlins up 30.

Virginia Wesleyan led by as much as 38, 65-27, in the second half to pull away for the win.

Andy Toe led Randolph (7-18/4-12) with 15 points and six rebounds while Ryan Fields added 11 points.

Banks, Moore, and Watson had 12 points each for the Marlins while Victory tallied 10 points and six rebounds in the win. Moore is just one point away from tying D.J. Woodmore '14 for second place on the Virginia Wesleyan all-time scoring list (1,944).

Virginia Wesleyan (17-8/10-6) finished the regular season tied with Lynchburg College for fourth place in the ODAC standings. A tiebreaker will determine which school will receive the fourth seed and first-round bye and who will be the fifth seed and play at home on Monday night.
