Volleyball Sweeps Centre in Sunday Tilt

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College volleyball team swept Centre College in three sets, 25-13, 25-22, 25-22 on Sunday afternoon.

The Marlins gained all the momentum in the first set behind a .433 hitting percentage that resulted in 14 kills. Virginia Wesleyan held Centre to just eight kills in the first set on a .029 hitting mark.

The second and third set went the way of the Marlins as well as Centre hit just .128 the remainder of the match. The Colonels had 19 attack errors and six service errors in the match.

Kristina Scott led the Marlins with nine kills as four different Marlins posted at least five kills on the afternoon. Emilee Pierson had 34 kills and 12 digs while Tiffany Barrett led the squad with 16 digs.

Virginia Wesleyan (7-9/0-2) travels Randolph College (2-11/0-3) Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for an ODAC contest.
