Win Streak Continues for Marlins against Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College volleyball team grew two impressive streaks against Bridgewater College Friday night with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 victory in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for the Marlins.

The win is the sixth-straight match victory for VWC, dating back to last Friday at the Maroon Classic. The Marlins have also captured each victory in straight sets, giving Virginia Wesleyan an impressive streak of 18-consecutive sets won.

The Eagles kept each set closer than previous Marlin opponents, but due to some timely hitting, Virginia Wesleyan was able to put the match away.

Tiffany Barrett led the Marlins with 11 kills and 11 digs while Kristina Scott added nine kills to go with a pair of blocks. Kirstin Sessoms led VWC with 16 assists as Emilee Pierson tallied 12 helpers to go along with a team-best 13 digs from Marin Crowder.

Rachel Kinsey had six kills for Bridgewater (2-8/0-2 ODAC) while Macon Frey contributed a match-high 14 digs.

Virginia Wesleyan (8-4/1-0) travels to Eastern Mennonite University (4-5/0-1) to face the Royals at 11 a.m. before taking on Ferrum College at 1 p.m. in a neutral site contest.
