Marlins Drop First ODAC Contest, Fall in Three to R-MC

ASHLAND, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College volleyball team saw a season-best 12-match winning streak come to an end Wednesday night with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-14 loss to Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The contest was a battle of the remaining unbeatens in the ODAC as Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon both came into action with 9-0 records. The Yellow Jackets did a good job of holding down the Marlins' hitting percentage to take the match in three sets. VWC hit just .024 for the contest.

Tiffany Barrett led the way for the Marlins with 13 kills to go along with 10 digs. Emilee Pierson posted 12 assists while Kirstin Sessoms added 11 more. Marin Crowder paced VWC with 14 digs.

Katie Rossberg had 17 kills for Randolph-Macon (19-3/10-0 ODAC) as Courtney Lowers added 12. Riley Martin had 21 assists while Samantha Sallade led all players with 24 digs.

Virginia Wesleyan (21-7/9-1) returns to action Friday with a non-conference match at Southern Virginia University (5-18) scheduled for 6 p.m.
