Box Score Marlins Prevail in 1-0 Defensive Struggle with H-SC
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College men's soccer team needed just one goal to defeat Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) defensive struggle.
The win breaks a three-way tie for sixth place in the ODAC standings as the Marlins won while Emory & Henry and Shenandoah lost to drop into a tie for seventh place.
The lone score for the Marlins came at 39:39 when Brandon Rogers found Josh Kemp for his fourth goal of the season.
Connor Kirkham made two saves for the Marlins while Cameron McFarlane stopped three shots for Hampden-Sydney (6-8/1-7). Kirkham has not allowed a score in any of the Marlins' victories while he has been in goal.
Virginia Wesleyan held a 13-7 advantage in shots while corner kicks were even at three.
Virginia Wesleyan (6-5-2/3-3-2) travels to Roanoke College (10-4-1/6-1-1) for an ODAC matchup Saturday at 6 p.m.
