Box Score Marlins Stay Hot, Sweep Sunday Action
ASHLAND, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team defeated Emory & Henry College in three sets Sunday morning before downing Guilford College in straight sets for a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victories. The wins move the Marlins' season-long win streak to 12 matches.
Marlins vs. Emory & Henry - Won (25-16, 25-15, 25-16)
Tiffany Barrett led the Marlins with 16 kills and an impressive .556 hitting percentage in the three set victory over the Wasps. Emilee Pierson posted 18 assists and Maddie Starr added nine digs.
Kennady Thomason had eight kills for Emory & Henry.
The Marlins shot an impressive .356 against just a .115 mark for E&H.
Marlins vs. Guilford - Won (25-16, 25-15, 25-16)
The Marlins won by an identical margin against Guilford in the afternoon match, although the offense was spread out a little more against the Quakers.
Doneisha Hall and Barrett each posted seven kills while Pierson and Kirstin Sessoms tied with 11 assists. Marin Crowder led the way with 14 digs as Pierson posted 10 for the double-double.
Casey Davis led Guilford with seven kills and 12 digs.
Virginia Wesleyan (21-6/9-0 ODAC) travels to Randolph-Macon College (18-3/9-0) for a 7 p.m. Wednesday matchup that will determine first place in the conference.
