Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Shots were there for the Virginia Wesleyan College men's soccer team at Bridgewater College on Wednesday.
Goals were absent however, as the Marlins dropped a 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision to the host Eagles.
Virginia Wesleyan (6-4, 2-2) out-shot Bridgewater 14-6, including 7-2 in the first half, but could not direct the ball into the net. Bridgewater (5-3-1, 2-0-1) scored in the 18th minute when Ethan McBryde (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) took the ball near midfield and rolled down field against a loose VWC defense to kick the ball in from about 15 yards out.
VWC's best chance to score took place in the 68th minute when Josh Kemp (Frisco, Texas/Addison Trinity Christian) connected for a shot that hit the crossbar.
Connor Kirkham (Centreville/Chantilly Westfield)protected the net for VWC and finished without a save against the Eagles' six shots. Kevin Morris (Knoxville, Tenn./Westminster, Md.) finished with seven saves for BC.
Virginia Wesleyan will attempt to end a two-game losing skid on Saturday, Oct. 5, in ODAC action against Guilford College's Quakers at 2 p.m. on Foster Field at the Trinder Center.
