Virginia Wesleyan delivered a commanding performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating Bridgewater 7-0 in ODAC men's tennis action at the Mapp-Whitelow Tennis Courts.
The Marlins set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches in decisive fashion. Natan Aerts and Josh Buckland led the charge at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 victory, while Veikko Sivonen and Timothy Gitomirski followed with another 6-1 win at No. 2. Frederick Bethkenhag and Jan Hendrix completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles with a 6-2 result.
Carrying that momentum into singles play, Virginia Wesleyan continued to dominate across the lineup. Aerts battled through a competitive match at No. 1 singles, rallying to win in a third-set tiebreak after dropping the opening set.
The rest of the lineup controlled play in straight sets. Buckland, Sivonen, Bethkenhag, Hendrix, and Gitomirski each earned convincing victories, with several matches allowing little to no games from their opponents.
With the win, Virginia Wesleyan improves to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in ODAC play, while Bridgewater falls to 7-9 and 0-6 in conference action.
