The Virginia Wesleyan University women's track and field team traveled across the bay to compete in the Blue & Silver Challenge.
In the 100 meters,
Lyric Hoggard led the Marlins with a first-place finish, crossing the line in 12.71.
Katelyn Griffin followed with a third-place finish in the same heat, posting a time of 13.15.
In the 200 meters,
Anisah Kersey earned a third-place finish with a time of 27.45. Kersey also competed in the 400 meters, where she placed eighth with a time of 1:04.55.
In the 800 meters,
Ella Clingenpeel recorded a third-place finish, clocking in at 2:25.00.
In the discus throw, Desi Hill led the Marlins with a ninth-place finish, recording a throw of 28.33 meters, hitting a personal best and broke into the top ten in the records books placing 10th.
Bailey Schottin followed in 12th place with a mark of 22.95 meters to mark a personal best.
In the hammer throw,
Jade Turner placed eighth with a throw of 27.85 meters to hit a personal best mark and ranks 8th all-time in school history, while Desi Hill finished ninth with a mark of 25.08 meters, here second personal best of the day.
In the high jump,
Maria Plummer cleared 1.39 meters to finish third overall.
Alani Hampton competed in the event but did not record a height.
In the javelin throw,
Zantia Durand claimed first place with a throw of 29.83 meters. Abigail Samples finished second with a mark of 28.59 meters, and
Bailey Schottin placed fifth with a throw of 18.87 meters.
In the long jump,
Katelyn Griffin earned a first-place finish with a jump of 5.17 meters.
Alani Hampton followed with a third-place finish, recording a mark of 4.90 meters, while
Maria Plummer placed ninth with a jump of 3.98 meters.
In the shot put,
Bailey Schottin led the Marlins with a fifth-place finish, recording a throw of 10.03 meters.
Zantia Durand followed in 11th place with a mark of 8.67 meters, Desi Hill placed 13th with a throw of 7.97 meters, and
Jade Turner finished 14th with a mark of 7.83 meters to hit a personal best.
In the triple jump,
Alani Hampton placed fourth with a jump of 9.94 meters, a mark that ranks 10th all time in school history, while
Katelyn Griffin followed in fifth place with a mark of 9.78 meters.
