Women's Track and Field Finish Strong on Final Day of ODAC Championship Meet

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's track and field team wrapped up day two of competition with strong finishes on the track and in the field.

Ester Zar claimed second place in the 3000 meter with a time of 10:26.06 to earn her second All-ODAC accolade of the meet. 

On the track, senior Lyric Hoggard delivered a solid performance in the 60-meter dash final. Hoggard crossed the line in 7.99 seconds (7.983), finishing sixth overall and earning three team points. 

In the 800 meters, junior Ella Clingenpeel battled through a competitive heat and came in sixth to post a time of 2:25.77. 

The Marlins saw their biggest point total of the day come in the shot put. Senior Mackenzie Swanson turned in a strong series, recording a top throw of 11.93 meters (39-1.75) to place fourth overall. Fellow throwers Bailey Schottin (10.01m / 32-10.25) and Zantia Durand (9.49m / 31-1.75) also competed well.

In the triple jump, Katelyn Griffin led the Marlins with a mark of 10.01 meters (32-10.25), finishing 11th overall. Freshman Alani Hampton followed with a jump of 9.81 meters (32-2.25), placing 13th.
