The Virginia Wesleyan men's basketball team (14-5, 9-1 ODAC) beat ODAC opponent Shenandoah (11-9, 4-7 ODAC) at home on February 4th, 55-90.
Malcom Velmar lead the Marlins with 14 points, shooting 5-for-10 from the field and had one assist.
Amari Moorer added 13 points, shooting 4-for-6 from the field, 5-for-7 from the free throw line, eight rebounds, and had one steal.
TJ East tallied 12 points, shooting 4-for-8 from the field, 3-for-5 from the free throw line, grabbed eight rebounds, and had two steals.
Khai Seargeant also tallied 12 points to the score, shooting 4-for-7 from the field, and got two rebounds.
The Marlins started the game off strong with Malcom Velmar banking a three pointer within the first 40 seconds of play, assisted by
Amari Moorer. The Marlins continued pushing offensively, going on a 25-8 run within next 10 minutes of the game, quickly putting a gap between them and the Hornets. The rest of the first half followed a similar pattern, with the Marlins holding a large gap going into halftime with a score of 24-40.
Both teams added to their scores in the second half, with the Hornets scoring 31 points and the Marlins adding 50 of their own. The strong offensive showing allowed the Marlins to extend their lead and bring the final score to 55-90, securing the victory.
