The Virginia Wesleyan University women's track and field team delivered a championship-caliber performance on day one of the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Virginia Wesleyan's dominance in the field events set the tone for the meet. Jordan Hall captured the ODAC Championship in the long jump with a mark of 7.09 meters (23-3.25), a leap that not only secured the conference title and 10 team points, but also moved him to No. 32 nationally in Division III. With the victory, Hall earned First Team All-Conference honors for his event championship performance.
On the track, Jasha Brewington turned in a strong showing in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, clocking an 8.49 to automatically qualify for the finals. In the finals, he improved his time to 8.47 to finished seventh in the race.
In the weight throw, Malik Williams posted a mark of 10.77 meters (35-4.00), competing hard in a deep field and adding valuable experience on the conference stage.
The Marlins also saw contributions in the long jump from Da'Quan Smith (6.38m / 20-11.25) and Jordan Fielder (6.30m / 20-8.00), as both turned in solid performances to add depth in the event.
Virginia Wesleyan's 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of C. Black, F. Stone, R. Koval, and W. Nakano combined for a time of 11:02.42, earning three team points and showcasing the Marlins' versatility across distance disciplines.
On day two of the meet, Jordan Fielder finished second in the triple jump to earn Second Team All-ODAC with a leap of 14.27 meters, and teammate Da'Quan Smith came in sixth with a mark of 13.38 meters.
Will Hepburn placed 22nd in the shot put for the Marlins with a throw of 10.28 meters.
