VWU opened the third set with a strong start, going up 3-1 early, and then extended their lead to 9-2 with aggressive attacking and a service ace. Guilford chipped away at the Marlins' lead and brought the score to 12-8. However, Virginia Wesleyan went on a 4-0 run to lead 16-8, they kept up their good run of play and outscored the host 9-6 to seal the 25-14 win.

The fourth set was the tightest of the match, but the Marlins quickly built a 7-2 lead to start the set. The two teams traded points until the Quakers went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 11-10, but the Marlins countered with a 5-0 run of their own to increase their lead to 16-10.
