Parker Lucas led the Marlins with four goals on eight shots,
Patrick Ruffolo recorded two goals and one assist, on seven shots, two ground balls, and caused one turnover, and
Ben Andrews scored two goals on three shots, and had one ground ball.
Zack Tucker got the win in net played 60 minutes, allowed five goals, and had 15 saves.
The men's lacrosse game between Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) and the Benedictine College Eagles (BCE) was a dominant performance for the Marlins, as they secured a decisive 11-5 victory. The game was highlighted by strong individual performances and timely goals across all four quarters.
The first quarter saw VWU come out firing on all cylinders, as they quickly built a commanding 4-0 lead. The first goal came at 13:41 when
Daniel Auxier scored unassisted, giving the Marlins an early advantage.
Parker Lucas then took over, scoring three consecutive unassisted goals at 8:49, 3:46, and just 9 seconds before the end of the period.
The second quarter began with a continuation of VWU's offensive onslaught, as Lucas netted his fourth goal of the game at 12:56, extending the Marlins' lead to 5-0. However, the Eagles began to show signs of life midway through the period scoring a goal at the 8:26 mark to put Bridgewater on the board for the first time at 5-1. Just a minute later the Eagles scored again to bring the score to 5-2. Despite these two goals from the Eagles, VWU responded swiftly with another unassisted goal from
Ben Andrews at 6:01, pushing the lead back to 6-2.
In the third quarter, the Marlins continued their dominant performance. Sebastien Reynolds extended the Marlins' lead to 7-2 with an unassisted goal at 12:19. The Eagles responded with their third goal of the game at 11:10, narrowing the margin to 7-3. However, Virginia Wesleyan was quick to answer.
Jackson Dinger made it 8-3 at 7:45 with a goal assisted by
Patrick Ruffolo. Just minutes later, at 3:41, Andrews netted another unassisted goal, bringing the lead to 9-3. The Marlins' offensive depth and efficiency kept the Eagles at bay, with VWU firmly in control heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter saw VWU finish strong, adding two more goals to their tally. At 14:20,
Patrick Ruffolo scored with an assist from Sebastien Reynolds to make it 10-3. Ruffolo added another goal at 6:50, unassisted, extending the lead to 11-3. The Eagles managed to get a pair of goals in the final minutes. Despite these late efforts from the Eagles, the game was well out of reach, and the Marlins emerged victorious with a commanding 11-5 win.
