The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (7-7, 5-3 ODAC) wrapped up their action packed weekend with a 7-0 sweep at Guilford College.
The Marlins won at all three doubles positions.
Lina Hackner and
Haley Haydon teamed up at #3 and refused to drop a game;
Zoe Vliegen and
Mikisha Thomas eased to a 6-1 win at #2; and
Tuva Flink and
Jette Hafermann won by a decisive 6-2 score at the top spot.
Zoe Vliegen cruised past Erika Mendez 6-0, 6-1 to extend the Marlin lead to 2-0; she was followed by
Jette Hafermann at #4 and
Lina Hackner at #3, who also recorded straight set victories to clinch the overall match win for VWU.
Finishing next was
Tuva Flink, who captured a 6-2, 7-6 (11) win over Ashley Belnap at the top of the singles lineup.
Haley Haydon continued the Marlin success with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at #6; and last to finish was
Mikisha Thomas, who recorded an impressive comeback win over Amy Soto Salgado by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.
The Marlins are set to return to the courts on Saturday, April 19 against Randolph College at 12:00 p.m.
