The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team (6-16, 2-12 ODAC) was defeated by No. 7 Salisbury 13-2 in non-conference competition.

Nick Beatty started on the mound for the Marlins, pitched 4.0 innings, allowed four hits six runs, and tallied one strikeout.
The Marlins started strong in the first inning, as Marcel Whitfield singled and advanced to second and third on a failed pickoff attempt. Then,
Nick Valentin grounded out to the short stop to score Whitfield to take a 1-0 lead.
Gino Meienschein worked a walk followed by a clutch double from
Joshua Jones to left center field that score Meienschein to put VWU up 2-0. The Seagulls were held scoreless until the bottom of the second were they scored one run to cut the Marlins lead to 2-1.
Virginia Wesleyan kept a lead until the fourth inning where Salisbury scored five runs on three hits to take a 6-2 lead. The Seagulls continued their good play in the fifth as they scored seven runs on three hits to extend their lead to 13-2 and went on to win the game.
