The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team battled Rhodes College in their second match of the spring season, losing 4-3. Matches were played indoors at the James River Country Club in Newport News.
The Marlins captured the doubles point, winning at all three positions by scores of 6-4, 6-2, and 6-1 at #1-3 respectively.
Rhodes bounced back after doubles with victories at the top two lines of singles over Tudor Vlad and Rafael Rullan Zarraga.
VWU's Sebastien Muller came back after losing the first set to Paul Fridman at the third singles spot, but ultimately fell 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Francis Cabaddu fell at the fourth line to Topher Thornberry, losing 6-3, 7-6 (2).
The two Marlin singles wins came at the fifth and sixth spots where Carlos Rullan Zarraga and Sainandan Challagundla won in three set thrillers to bring the final match score to 4-3 for Rhodes.
Next the Marlins will travel to Pfeiffer University for a dual match on Monday, February 17, at 3 p.m.
