Virginia Wesleyan Caps Senior Night with Commanding 3-0 Victory

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team (28-1, 11-0 ODAC) defeated Randolph 3-0 on Senior Day, winning 25-16, 25-14, and 25-15.

Before the start of the game, the Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball program honored its four-member senior class, which included Skylar Rivers, Breana Brooks, Alexis Shaw, and Jada Foster.

Hannah Smith led the offense with 13 kills, a .360, five service aces, one block assist, and 12 digs, Alexis Shaw had 11 kills, with a .579 hitting percentage, one block assist, and four digs, and Jada Foster had six kills, with a .133 hitting percentage, one service ace, one block assist, and seven digs.

Niya Nash led the team with 38 assists, two service aces, three block assists, and six digs, and teammate Skylar Rivers had nine digs, four assists, and two service aces.

Virginia Wesleyan started off strong with a 9-0 run to start the set, and went on to extend their lead with an 8-4 run to take a 17-4 lead. The Wildcats rallied and went on an 11-6 run to bring the score to 23-15. The Marlins went on to win the set 25-16.

The Marlins jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set, but Randolph went on a 4-1 run to cut the lead to 8-5. VWU went on a 6-0 run to take a 14-5 lead, but the Wildcats responded with a 5-1 run to lead 15-10. Virginia Wesleyan countered with a 5-1 run to take a 20-11 lead. Randolph went on a 3-0 run to bring the score to 20-14, but VWU responded with a 5-0 run to win the set 25-14.

The third set was a close contest as the score stood at 4-3, but the Marlins went on a 7-2 run to take an 11-5 lead. The two teams traded points to bring the score to 16-10, but then the Marlins went on a 5-3 run to take a 21-13 lead. The Wildcats went on a 2-0 run, but the Marlins countered with a 4-0 run to win set three 25-15.
