The Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team (12-5-1, 6-3-0 ODAC) fell in a tight 1-0 match up against Bridgewater (12-4-2, 6-2-1 ODAC) on Saturday at Jopson Field Athletic Complex.
The only goal of the contest came late in the second half, as Bridgewater found the back of the net in the 78th minute, giving the Eagles the advantage.
Virginia Wesleyan controlled stretches of the game in the second half, out shooting Bridgewater 7-6, including three shots on goal, and earning four corner kicks to Bridgewater's two. Despite the offensive pressure, VWU was unable to convert on their opportunities.

Ben Haynes played the full 90 minutes for the Marlins, making five crucial saves while allowing the lone goal. Virginia Wesleyan's defense, anchored by

JaMarhe Wills, limited Bridgewater to just six shots on goal.
With the loss, Virginia Wesleyan finishes the regular season at 12-5-1 overall and 6-3-0 in ODAC play, entering postseason play looking to build on the solid performances from the year.
