The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team (9-4-1, 3-3-0) picked up a key ODAC win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Shenandoah University (4-7-4, 1-3-2) by a score of 2–1 at Foster Field at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex.
Cowen Napior opened the scoring for the Marlins in the 35th minute, finding the back of the net with his second goal of the season off an assist from
Cayden Tappan. Virginia Wesleyan continued to pressure the Hornets throughout the match, holding an 8–2 advantage in first-half shots.
In the second half,
Mustafa Elwasila extended the lead in the 78th minute, scoring his first goal of the season with help from Gio Zizza. Shenandoah converted a penalty kick less than two minutes later, but the Marlins' defense held strong to secure the win.
Virginia Wesleyan out shot Shenandoah 16–6, with eight shots on goal, and held a 9–4 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper

The Marlins return to ODAC action on Wednesday, October 22 at 4:00 PM, traveling to Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va.
