The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team (11-2, 4-0 ODAC) defeated conference opponent Washington & Lee 62-38, where four Marlins hit double-digits.
Khai Seargeant led the offense with 14 points shooting 5-for-11 from the field, 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line and grabbed five rebounds.
Omari DeVeaux recorded 13 points shooting 5-for-17 from the field 3-for-10 from beyond the arc, and 0-for-2 from the charity stripe; he had five rebounds and two assists.
Amari Moorer tallied 11 points shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 3-for-5 from the free throw line; he grabbed nine rebounds, four steals, one block, and one assist, and teammate
Demeir Pollard had 11 points shooting 4-for-10 from the field 3-for-8 from deep; had one block and one steal.
The Generals held a 2-1 lead early in the first minute of the game, but the Marlins went on a 9-6 run to lead 10-6. W&L hit a three to cut the lead to 10-9, but VWU rallied going on an 8-1 run to lead 18-9 with 8:31 left in the first half.
Washington & Lee stopped the run with two free throws to move the score to 18-10. However, the Marlins continued their dominance and went on an 8-3 run to finish out the first half with a 26-14 lead.
Out of the break, the Marlins made the first basket of the half to lead by 14. However, that sparked a Generals 8-2 run to cut the lead to 30-22 at the 16:30 mark. Virginia Wesleyan countered with a 7-0 run over the next three minutes to lead 37-22, but W&L fought back going on an 8-0 run to bring the score to 37-30 with 9:56 on the clock.
VWU was dominant over the next three minutes, going on a 12-0 run to take a commanding 49-30 lead with 6:25 left in the game. The Marlins outscored the Generals 8-5 over the next several minutes to lead 57-35 before they put in their subs with 2:46 left in the game. Virginia Wesleyan went on to score five more points to seal the 62-38 win over Washington & Lee.
