Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Marlins Crush Widener in 4-1 Win

The Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team (3-0) extended their dominance this season with a 4-1 victory over the Widener University Pride.

Everett McCloskey led the Marlins offense with two goals in the thirty-eight minutes he played. Ilan Mejia performed well, tallying one goal and three shots on goal. JaMarhe Wills displayed his versatility with two shots on goal and two assists.

The Marlins' offense was strong, with 12 shots on goal made throughout the game. Junior, Ilan Mejia, scored early in the game with an assist by JaMarhe Wills to give the Marlins an edge.

The Marlins' captains worked well together as Alex Moody directed a long pass from the midfield to assist Everett McCloskey with a goal. Widener's Nikos Deliagyris responded with a goal minutes after to bring the score to 2-1.

Nate Mitchell's hard work forced a defensive error by the Pride, which gave him a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie, that found the back of the net from 30 yards out. This put the Marlins in a comfortable position with a 3-1 lead.

The Marlins solidified their victory with a second goal scored by Everett McCloskey, assisted by JaMarhe Wills, also with his second point of the night.
