The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 15 Roanoke 24-4.

Shaunice Rone led VWU with two goals, five draw controls, and two ground balls, Michaela Elston scored one goal, had two draw controls, and grabbed two ground balls, and Helen Kennedy-Butler recorded one goal and one ground ball. 

The Marlins started well scoring the first goal of the game, but the Maroons scored eight straight goals to take an 8-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

Roanoke kept the pressure on to lead 16-2 at the break, with the Helen Kennedy-Butler scoring the second goal for the Marlins. 

Virginia Wesleyan was outscored 8-2 in the second half. The Marlins goal scorers were Michaela Elston in the third quarter and Shaunice Rone got her second goal of the game in the final frame.
