VWU Falls to ODAC Opponent Randoph-Macon

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (4-9, 2-4) was defeated by Randolph-Macon College 23-8.

Helen Kennedy-Butler led the team with five goals, six shots on goal, and caused one turnover, Madison Pfister recorded two goals, caused one turnover, four draw controls, and Michaela Elston had two assists, three draw controls, and one caused turnover.

Brittneyann Hoover started in the net and recorded the loss, allowed 17 goals, and made two saves over 41 minutes of play.

Helen Kennedy-Butler started the match with an unassisted goal within the first two minutes to take a 1-0 lead, but the Yellow Jackets responded by scoring eight consecutive goes to take the lead 8-1 in the first quarter.

The Yellow Jackets continued to score in the second quarter, but Helen Kennedy-Bulter scored a goal with an assist from Michaela Elston to make the score 10-3 and with two goals from Madison Pfister, assisted by Daphne Myers and Michaela Elston, to bring the score to 13-4. Helen Kennedy-Butler ended the first half with one more goal making it 14-5.

In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Marlins 5-0 heading into the final quarter.

Entering the fourth quarter, Helen Kennedy-Butler scored two goals one unassisted at the 7:52 mark and an assisted goal by Shaunice Rone. Maya Perry scored in the last few minutes of play, but the lead was too much for the Marlins and Randolph-Macon took home a 23-8 win.
