Women's Lacrosse Falls to Ferrum 12-6

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (4-8, 2-3 ODAC) was defeated by Ferrum 12-6. 

Helen Kennedy-Butler led the team with a goal and two assists, three draw controls, and caused one turnover, Michaela Elston tallied two assists, three draw controls, and caused one turnover, and Madison Pfister recorded two goals on five shots, one draw control, caused one turnover, and had one ground ball. 

Ferrum started with two unassisted goals in the first two minutes of play. VWU responded as Madison Pfister scored off an assist from Helen Kennedy-Butler to bring the score to 2-1. The Panthers went on to score four goals to take a 6-1 lead before Pfister scored a man-up goal with an assist from Kennedy-Butler to cut the lead to 6-2. 

Ferrum outscored VWU 2-1 in the second quarter with the goal for the Marlins from Shaunice Rone who was assisted by Daphne Myers to give the host an 8-3 lead going into halftime. 

Coming out of the break the Panthers scored the first three goals to lead 11-3. The Marlins responded with two goals in the final three minutes. Daphne Myers scored at the 2:28 mark with an assist from Michaela Elston and Mackenzie Lesher scored in the final minute of the quarter off an assist from Elston to bring the score to 11-5. 

In the final frame, Helen Kennedy-Butler scored a free position shot with a man advantage to cut the lead to 11-6, but Ferrum answered to seal the 12-6 win over VWU.
