Marlins Sweep Southern Virginia in Doubleheader

The Virginia Wesleyan University men's baseball team (7-5) defeated Southern Virginia in a doubleheader winning game one 6-3 and won game two 5-2.

Game One:
In the second inning Keegan Megaro walked and advanced to second on an error by the pitcher, and stole third, before Josh Goodrich singled up the middle to score Megaro to put the Marlins up 1-0. Samuel Kasprow doubled to score Goodrich, then Thomas Crandall doubled to score Kasprow to give the Marlins up 3-0.

Southern Virginia scored one run in the top fo the third to cut the score to 3-1. 

Michael Burton Jr. was a lead off walk followed by a Micah Fox double to score Burton to lead 4-1. Megaro singled to score Fox from third to give the Marlins a 5-1 lead. 

The Knights scored on the top of the fourth to bring the score to 5-2. In the bottom of the fourth, Clay Clarke reached on an error, then Burton and Fox singled to load up the bases. Megaro was then walked to score Burton to increase the Marlins lead to 6-2.

Micah Fox led the Marlins offense going 3-for-4 with a double, scored one run, and had one RBI, Josh Goodrich went 2-for-2 with a double, scored one run, and had one RBI, and Samuel Kasprow went 1-for-3 with a double, scored one run, and tallied one RBI.

Ian Brady got the win on the mound for the Marlins as he started the game and pitched 4.0 innings, allowed two runs on three hits, and struckout four. 

Game Two:
Sam Kasprow walked, Megaro singled through the left side and Sam Saunders grounded out to second base that scored Kasprow to lead 1-0. Nate Bryant doubled down the left side and Marcell Whitefield walked to put runners on second and third for Thomas Crandall who doubled to put the Marlins up 2-0. 

Chris Mitchell Jr. singled in the bottom of the third, and Kasprow doubled to put runners on second and third, and Megaro hit a sacrifice fly to increase the Marlins lead to 3-0. 

Southern Virginia scored two runs off three hits in the top of the fifth to bring the score to 3-2. 

In the sixth inning, Crandall hit a lead off single, Clarke was walked and Fox reached on an error to load up the bases. Chris Mitchell singled up the middle to score Crandall and Clarke to lead 5-2. 

Thomas Crandall was 3-for-4 with a double, scored one run, and had one RBI, Chris Mitchell Jr. was 2-for-4, scored one run, and had two RBI, and Sam Kasprow was 1-for-3 with a double and scored one run.

Jack McDowell started and pitched 4.2 innings allowed two runs on five hits, and had five strikeouts.
