The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team (2-1) defeated Emory University on the road 7-6.
Micah Fox went 3-for-4 at-bat with one home run, scored one run, and had two RBI, 
John Bastiaans went 2-for-4 at the plate with a homer, scored one run, and had two RBI, and 
Michael Burton Jr. was 2-for-5 at the plate and scored one run.
Virginia Wesleyan scored in the bottom of the second as 
Clay Clarke walked, moved to second on a balk, advanced to third on an error by the pitcher, and scored on a balk to lead 1-0. 
Emory rallied in the top of the fifth and scored four runs on five hits to take a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, the Marlins were able to cut the lead down to 4-3, as Burton singled to center field and 
Micah Fox hit a homer to score two runs. 
In the bottom of the sixth, Clarke hit a lead-off single, and two batters later Bastiaans homered to give the Marlins a 5-4 lead. 
The Eagles tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the seventh with one run. 
Nick Sylvester walked to put a runner on first, then 
Cliff Ewell pinch-ran for Sylvester, Bastiaans singled to right field to put runners on first and second, and 
Josh Goodrich was hit by pitch to load the bases. Then, 
Thomas Crandall singled to center to field to take a 6-5 lead. 
The Eagles tied the game at 6-6 in the ninth. 
Micah Fox led off the inning with a single and 
Trevor Sheets came in to pinch run for Fox. Sheets advanced to second on a wild pitch, then Clarke reached first on an error by the catcher to put runners on the corners. Sheets scored on an error by the catcher to give the Marlins the 7-6 win.
