The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team (3-21, 1-16 ODAC) lost to ODAC opponent Randolph-Macon 67-34.
Meadow Dyke led the team with 12 points shooting 4-for-8 from the field, 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, and 2-for-2 from the free throw line, and had two rebounds, Jada Norman score seven points shooting 3-for-13 from the field, 1-for-5 from deep, tallied one rebound, and one steal, and Mekayla Clarke scored six points shooting 3-for-8 from the field, grabbed five rebounds, one assist, and two steals.
Keys to the Game:
- The Yellow Jackets shot 30-for63 (47.6%) from the field, 5-for-12 (41.7%) from three-point territory, and 2-for-6 (33.3%) from the free throw line, while the Marlins shot 13-for-57 (22.8%), 3-for-15 (20.0%), and 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the free throw line.
- Randolph-Macon tallied 54 rebounds and 46 points in the paint, while VWU had 26 rebounds and 14 points in the paint.
How It Happened:
In the first five minutes of the quarter, the Marlins kept the game close being down 6-4, but the Yellow Jackets went on a 15-4 run to lead 21-8 at the end of the first quarter. RMC outscored the Marlins 21-9 in the second quarter to lead 42-17.
Virginia Wesleyan came out of the half with great adjustments going on a 7-2 run in the first four minutes of the third quarter to bring the score to 44-24. The Marlins outscored the Yellow Jackets 13-10 in the third quarter to cut the lead down to 52-30.
Randolph-Macon went on to win the game 67-34 outscoring the Marlins in the fourth quarter.
