Khai Seargeant led the Marlins with 19 points shooting 6-for-13 from the field, 2-for-4 from deep, and 5-for-5 from the free throw line, with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, Elijah Gardner scored 11 points shooting 4-for-5 from the field, 3-for-3 from three-point territory, had three rebounds, and one assist, and Paul Anderson tallied nine points shooting 3-for-7 from the field, 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, grabbed four rebounds, one block, and one steal.
Keys to the Game:
- The Marlins shot 22-for-45 (48.9%) from the field, 10-for-22 (45.5%) from beyond the arc, and 14-for-16 (87.5%) from the free throw line, compared to the Quakers who shot 20-for-53 (37.7%) from the field, 9-for-26 (34.6%) from deep, and 13-for-14 (92.9%) from the charity stripe.
- Virginia Wesleyan forced 12 turnovers, with four blocks and eight steals to score 10 points off turnovers, and Guilford forced 10 turnovers with six steals, and scored 12 points off turnovers.

How It Happened:
The Marlins started the game strong building an 11-5 in the first eight minutes of the game. The Quakers responded with a 12-5 run to take a 17-16 lead at the 7:24 mark of the first half.
VWU went on a 6-5 run to tie the game at 22-22 with 4:22 left in the half. Guilford jumped ahead with a 6-2 run and went into the break with a 31-26 lead over the Marlins.
Virginia Wesleyan rallied at the start of the second half going on an 8-2 run to take a 34-33 lead. The Marlins continued their success going on a 12-7 run to lead 46-40 at the 11:24 mark.
Guilford fought back going on an 8-2 run with two made threes to tie the game at 48-48 with 7:55 left in regulation. The Marlins responded with their own 8-2 run to lead 56-50.
The Quakers looked to close the gap and went on a 7-4 run to cut the lead to 60-57 with 2:17 left in the game. VWU rallied going on a 5-2 run to extend their lead to 65-59 with 57 seconds left in the game. To conserve time the Quakers started fouling the Marlins, but clutch free throws from Crump and Seargeant sealed the win for the Marlins.
