The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team lost to Division I Old Dominion University 82-44.
Jeremiah Boateng led the team in points with nine shooting 3-for-3 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line; he had six rebounds and one assist.
Waylo Wilson scored seven points in ten minutes of play shooting 3-for-3 from the field, with two rebounds, and one assist.
Demeir Pollard registered six points shooting 2-for-8 from the field, 2-for-7 from three-point territory, grabbed two rebounds, and had one steal.
The Marlins kept up with the Monarchs in the first half, down 32-20 at halftime. VWU shot 9-for-33 from the field and 2-for-9 from deep in the first half, and ODU shot 11-for-25 from the field, 4-for-12 from beyond the arc, and 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
The Monarchs scored 50 points in the second half, while the Marlins scored 24. VWU had 31 points scored from the bench, 11 second-chance points, and only had six turnovers.
Virginia Wesleyan will get back to regular season play on Monday, December 30th where they will go on the road and play Franklin and Marshall for a 3 p.m. tip off.
