The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team (27-6, 11-1 ODAC) was defeated by No. 1 Juniata 3-0, falling 25-10, 25-12, and 25-16.
The Marlins had a historic season, getting back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 and recording their first NCAA Tournament win for the first time in program history with a 3-2 win over Springfield.
Juniata started strong, going on a 10-0 run, but the Marlins fought back to bring the score to 17-7. The Eagles built a 20-7 lead, but the Marlins countered with a 3-1 run to bring the score to 21-10. The Eagles scored the next three points to win the first set 25-10.
In the second set, the Marlins were down 4-2 but responded to tie the set at 7-7. The Eagles went on an 8-2 run to lead 15-9. Juniata rallied and went on a 10-3 run to win set two 25-12.
Virginia Wesleyan looked to start well in the third set and led 2-1. However, the host responded with a 6-1 run to lead 7-3, they continued to put on the pressure and led by a score of 11-5. VWU responded with a 4-2 run to bring the score to 13-9. Juniata went on a 5-1 run to extend their lead to 18-10. The Marlins refused to give up and outscored the Eagles 5-3 to bring the score to 21-15. Juniata went on a 4-1 run to win the third set 25-16.
