The Virginia Wesleyan University Field Hockey team (12-7, 4-4 ODAC) was defeated by Husson 2-1.
Berkley Miller played 60 minutes in net, made 10 saves, and allowed two goals,
Dani Poulsen recorded a goal on two shots, and
Lauren Hedspeth had one assist.
It was a defensive contest to start the game, after the first quarter neither team found the back of the net. Husson had five shots with two on the net that Miller stopped for VWU.
The Eagles scored two goals in the second quarter and had five shots on target to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
After the break, Husson put pressure on VWU with three shots on the net and two penalty corners, but could not add to their goals total.
The Marlins fought back in the fourth quarter as they had five shots with two on target and two penalty corners. One penalty corner was awarded as time ran out, and
Dani Poulsen scored off a nice feed from
Lauren Hedspeth to cut the lead to 2-1.
