Virginia Wesleyan's offense came in aggressive from the start with 14 shots in the first half. Less than ten minutes into the game,
Everett McCloskey's precise corner kick found
Mason Wakefield, who shot the ball behind the Ferrum goalie and into the net.
The second goal of the night was scored by
Nolan Schulte, who punted the ball over the Panther defenders off an assist from
Alex Moody. Schulte and Moody are tied as the top two goal scorers for the Marlins.
Both teams played well defensively in the second half, with neither team scoring during the period.
Ben Haynes tallied one save throughout the entire game.
