The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team (9-2-2, 4-1 ODAC) was defeated by Roanoke College 3-2.

It was a deadlocked battle for the first 20 minutes until the Maroons broke the deadlock with two goals in the 21st and 23rd minute of play to lead 2-0. Virginia Wesleyan responded in the 27th minute as

Down 2-1 in the second half the Marlins were determined to get back into the game. Roanoke scored a third goal in the 56th minute to lead 3-2. However, Zizza was able to score his second goal of the day with an assist from
Ilan Mejia to bring the score to 3-2 with 25 minutes left in the game. The Marlins fought hard outshooting the Maroons 18-6 with four shots on goal and six corner kick opportunities. The Marlins could not equalize for their first conference loss of the season.
