The Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team (8-1-2, 3-0 ODAC) secured their third straight conference win as they defeated the Quakers of Guilford College in a 5-0 shutout.
The Marlins saw five different goal scorers with
Aria Kimiavi tallying his first of the season.
Ben Haynes and
Matt Yates each recorded three saves in goal.
The Marlins offense scored early as
Aaron Deans performed an excellent cross from the left that
Everett McCloskey headed back across the goal to
Nolan Schulte who then headed the ball into the net to put the Marlins up 1-0. The Marlins solidified their lead in the first half with two additional goals by
Zach Bittler and
Alex Moody to lead 3-0 at the break.
The Marlins continued their strong play into the second half, as
Christopher Garcia Ortega tallied an assist to
Juan Tovar for the first goal of the period to increase the lead to four.
Diego Armas' powerful throw-in found
Aria Kimiavi in the box who finished the play with a clean goal in the back left corner of the net past the Quaker goalie with just over a minute left on the clock to seal the 5-0 win over Guilford.
