The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team (3-9, 1-6 ODAC) was defeated by Bridgewater 70-26.
Mekayla Clarke led the offense with eight points shooting 3-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from the free throw line, with three rebounds, and two assists, and teammate Maesyn Blaylock scored five points shooting 1-for-4 from the field, 1-for-2 from beyond the arc, 2-for-2 from the free throw line, grabbed three rebounds, and one steal.

- The Eagles shot well going 30-for-80 (37.5%) from the field, 3-for-13 (23.1%) from three-point territory, and 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the charity stripe, while the Marlins shot 9-for-45 (20%) from the field, 3-for-9 (33.3%) from beyond the arc, and 5-for-7 (71.4%) from the free throw line.
- Bridgewater was strong in the paint as they outrebounded the host 59-25 with 28 offensive rebounds, 17 second-chance points, and 46 points in the paint. VWU recorded 25 rebounds, four offensive rebounds, two second-chance points, and eight points in the paint.
How it Happened:
Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two points each for Mekayla Clarke and Maesyn Blaylock. The Eagles responded with a 17-2 run to lead 17-6 at the end of the first quarter.
After an early layup from Bridgewater, the Marlins kept it close through the second quarter with the Eagles outscoring VWU 11-9 over six minutes to bring the score to 30-15. The visitors went into the half with a 36-15 lead.
Bridgewater kept up the pressure in the second half and outscored Virginia Wesleyan 34-11 to seal the 70-26 win.
