Women's Soccer (6-3, 2-0 ODAC) drove down to Greensboro, NC to take on Guilford College. The Marlins played well and defeated the Quakers 3-0.
The Marlins attack started strong seemingly right away. In the 9th minute,
Alexis Miller dribbled down the sideline and connected a perfect cross to the head of
Shyenne Diaz. Diaz then headed the ball into the back of the net to put the Marlins up 1-0.
The Marlins capitalized on their momentum a minute later. In the 10th minute,
Alexis Miller took a corner kick for the Marlins which was placed in the middle of the box. A Quaker defender attempted to clear the ball but accidently scored an own goal to make the score 2-0.
Guilford's defense held strong for the remained of the 1st half. Both teams didn't manage to score for the rest of the half, making the score 2-0 at halftime.
In the 68th minute, the Marlins were awarded a free kick from about 36 yards out.
Sam Crawford took the kick and the ball bounced over a Quaker defender and went to the head of
Adrianna Gunther. Gunther then headed a ball that went past Guilford's goalie and into the net to push the score to 3-0.
The Marlins wrapped up a another ODAC win on the road which puts them at 6-3 on the season. The Marlins will return home on October 4th to take on Randolph-Macon College at 7:00 PM.
