The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team (15-2) defeated conference opponent Guilford 3-0, winning 25-12, 25-19, and 25-14.
The Quakers jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the first set, but the Marlins fought back with a 10-1 run and took a 14-8 lead. Guilford went on a 4-1 run to cut the lead to 15-12. However, the Marlins went on a 10-0 run to win set one 25-12.
Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-1 start, but the host came back to take a 5-3 lead. The Marlins strung together a 9-2 run to lead 12-7 midway through the second set. The Quakers chipped away at the Marlins' lead and cut it down to 19-18, but VWU outscored Guilford 6-1 to win set two, 25-19.
VWU kept their momentum going in the third set and took an early 6-2 lead. Guilford strung together some points to cut the Marlins lead to 9-7, but Virginia Wesleyan went on a 5-0 run to lead 14-7. The Quakers rallied winning three straight points, however, the Marlins countered with a 6-0 run to lead 20-10. Virginia Wesleyan outscored Guilford 5-4 to win set three, 25-14.
