The Marlins (5-3, 1-0 ODAC) traveled to Newport News this morning to take on No. 12 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and were defeated 1-0 in a close contest.

The only goal of the game came in the 13th minute when UWL crossed a ball into the box and scored to put UWL up 1-0 in the match.

The Marlins continued to put pressure on the goal for the remainder of the half. Virginia Wesleyan recorded four shots in the 1st half.

The Marlins consistently had steady pressure on their defensive end, limiting UWL's attack in the second half. 

Virginia Wesleyan recorded four shot attempts in the second half. Cailey Johnson shot twice with one shot was on goal, and teammate Alexis Miller recorded three shots with two shots on goal.

The Marlins will hit the road next weekend and head to Greensboro, NC. They will play Guilford College on Saturday, September 30th, at 5:30 p.m.
