The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (4-2) defeated Salisbury University 1-0.
The Seagulls and Marlins both matched up strongly in the first half and traded off shots and fouls but no goals came in the 1st half.
The Marlins attack gained momentum from
Shyenne Diaz at the beginning of the 2nd half. Diaz kept the Seagull's defenders on their toes as she fired multiple shots to build momentum from the Marlins.
In the 65th minute,
Shyenne Diaz led a solo sprint attack with the eventual game-winning goal in the 65
th minute to put the Marlins in front.
Rachel Quigley faced 10 shots, making three saves, and pitched a shutout at goalie.
The Marlins will head to Ferrum, Va on Friday, September 22, to play Ferrum College for a 5:00 p.m. kick-off.
