Hampden-Sydney Down Marlins 20-3

The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team (6-5, 3-2 ODAC) was defeated by ODAC opponent Hampden-Sydney 20-3.

The bright spot for the Marlins was goalie Zack Tucker, who tallied 15 great saves through 60 minutes of play. 

The Tigers shut out the Marlins in the first quarter to lead 7-0. 

After going down 9-0, the Marlins got on the board as Daniel Auxier scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 9-1. The Tigers added two more goals before the break to lead 11-1. 

Virginia Wesleyan came out of halftime strong, with an unassisted goal from Mark Sprague to bring the score to 11-2. Hampden-Sydney scored three more goals the rest of the third quarter to lead 14-2. 

The Tigers outscored the Marlins 6-1 in the final frame, as Mark Sprague scored the lone goal from VWU. Hampden-Sydney went on to win 20-3.

Mark Sprague led the offense with two goals, on five shots, two caused turnovers, and one ground ball, Daniel Auxier had one goal with two shots on net, and Floyd Wells had a team-high three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
