The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (5-11, 3-5 ODAC) lost to ODAC opponent Lynchburg 14-5.
Mikayla Szudera led the team and scored one goal with two assists,
Natalie Dunn scored two goals, had two draw controls, caused one turnover, and had one ground ball, and
Helen Kennedy-Butler scored two goals and two ground balls.
The Hornets scored 11 straight goals in the first two quarters before a goal from
Natalie Dunn assisted by
Mikayla Szudera to make it an 11-1 game with 40 seconds left in the second quarter.
Virginia Wesleyan came out of the break, and
Helen Kennedy-Butler scored off a feed from
Mikayla Szudera to cut the lead down to 11-2. The Hornets scored back-to-back goals to take a 13-2 lead. Virginia Wesleyan scored three straight goals to cut the lead down to 13-5 with 11:14 left in the fourth quarter. Lynchburg added one more goal before the end of the game to lead 14-5.
Brittneyann Hoover started and played 25 minutes, allowed 11 goals, and had one save, and
Kirsten Ivory came in, played 34 minutes, allowed three goals, and made six saves.
