No. 8 Seed Virginia Wesleyan Defeated by No. 5 Seed Randolph-Macon

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (5-12, 3-5 ODAC) was defeated by Randolph-Macon 23-5 in the first round of the ODAC Championship Tournament. 

Shannon DeMarinis led the team with two goals, one assist, three ground balls, and one draw control, Helen Kennedy-Butler recorded two assists, and one ground ball and Michaela Elston registered one assist, four draw controls, three ground balls, and one caused turnover. 

The Yellow Jackets scored four unanswered goals before a free position goal was scored by Shannon DeMarinis to bring the score to 4-1. The Dynamic Duo struck again Mikayla Szudera scored off a feed from Helen Kennedy-Butler. Randolph-Macon entered the second quarter up 8-2.

After going down 11-2, the Marlins scored back-to-back goals, first, a man-down goal by Madison Pfister with an assist from Shannon DeMarinis, followed by a goal from Camryn Gavula off a feed from Michaela Elston to cut the lead to 11-4. The Yellow Jackets led 15-4 at the break. 

Shannon DeMarinis scored with an assist from Kennedy-Butler to score goal number five for the Marlins. The host went on to win 23-5. 

Brittneyann Hoover started in net, allowed 13 goals and made four saves, and Kirsten Ivory came in, allowed 10 goals and collected seven saves.
