Softball Shutout No. 6 Belhaven and No. 19 Birmingham-Southern

The Virginia Wesleyan softball team (4-2) defeated No. 6 Belhaven 8-0 in game one and defeated No. 19 Birmingham-Southern 4-0 in game two.

Game One:
The Marlins were scoreless in the first four innings but tallied four runs in the fifth to break the deadlock. Julia Piotrowski doubled to left field to start the inning, then Laci Campbell reached on an error to put runners on the corners. Mackenzie Swanson singled to right field scoring both Campbell and Piotrowski. Alison Pollack doubled to right field moving the pinch runner Sarah Prosser to third. Madison Hudson grounded out to the shortstop scoring Prosser. Then, Emma Adams doubled to left field scoring Pollack to go up 4-0.

Virginia Wesleyan scored four more in the sixth inning as Prosser was walked with the bases loaded. Pollack then singled to left field scoring Campbell and Brooke Anderson. Adams singled to the shortstop to score Prosser to seal the 8-0 win over No. 6 Belhaven.

Emily Seale recorded the win in the circle as she pitched 6.0 innings, allowing only six hits, and had one strikeout. 

Emma Adams led the team as she went 2-for-3, with two RBI, Alison Pollack went 2-for-4 at bat, scored one run, and two RBI, and Mackenzie Swanson went 1-for-1, with two RBI. 

Game Two:
The Marlins started strong as Alison Pollack hit a 2 RBI homer to right-center field in the first inning. 

VWU added a run in the fourth as Piotrwoski singled to the shortstop, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, and moved to third on a groundout to the shortstop. Sarah Prosser singled through the right side to score Piotrowski, giving the Marlins a 3-0 lead. 

Emma Adams hit a two out single through the left side in the seventh. Mirandah Jenkins pinch ran for Adams and stole second. Olivia Knight reached first on an error by the shortstop to score Jenkins to give Virginia Wesleyan a 4-0 lead. 

Sarah Prosser led the team going 2-for-4 at bat, scored one run, and had one RBI, Alison Pollack went 1-for-3 with a home run, scored one run, and had one RBI, and Olivia Knight went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Emma Adams registered the win in the circle as she pitched 7.0 innings, allowing only four hits, and tallied five strikeouts.
